Akoko Edo demand dep gov slot

THE people of Akoko Edo have appealed to
the leadership of the APC to cede the

Deputy Governorship position to the area
since the senator for the area had been
taken from them to Etsako land in Edo
North.
A statement signed by Ajayi Reuben,
Coordinator Akoko Edo Reformers Network,
read in part:
“Akoko Edo being the oldest Local
Government in Nigeria had been created by
Edict no 6 of Western Region 1954 has been
politically crippled and left to scramble for
grub except for Senate which was at the
mercy and benevolence of Comrade Adams
Oshiomhole but which was short-lived after
the first term and taken back to Etsako.
“Most of us are aware that Comrade
Oshiomhole has come a long way with
Comrade Peter Akpatason, who is presently
representing the good people of Akoko Edo
at the House of Representatives. It’s a
statement of fact without sounding
immodest that right from the days of active
labour unionism, Comrade Akpatason who
was then the National President, NUPENG
for 8years was a loyal ally of Comrade
Adams Oshiomhole.
“It’s based on the aforementioned, that we
are making a clarion call on Edo North
particularly Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and
other leaders of thought from Etsako and
Owan, to show understanding on the issue
of Deputy Governor by conceding it to
Akoko Edo LGA” it stated.
