NEMA reacts to latest photos of malnourished children circulating on social media

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) North East has reacted to disturbing pictures of severely malnourished children in Monguno, Borno State, which were posted by Grema Terab and currently circulating on social media. (read here)
"Pictures of Malnourished children making rounds on social media are pictures of people from liberated communities not Internally Displaced persons residing in camps. Most communities outside Maiduguri were under insurgents control and inaccessible.
As a result of successful military operations these communities are gradually becoming accessible. 16 satellite camps have been set up in collaboration with the military in major towns in the liberated areas. The United Nations World Food Program in Collaboration with NEMA have stockpiled Dietary supplements for the treatment of malnutrition. Subsequently humanitarian relief interventions will be provided in the liberated communities as quickly as possible"
