Couple raises the alarm as in-laws attempt to take their newborn baby away

A couple, Ugo (30 years) and Dr. Nono Madugba (28), have raised the alarm over alleged plans by the wife’s parents to take their newborn baby away. Recall that in March, Nono’s father, Dr. Ejike Orji, got Ugo arrested for marrying her without their permission but he was released by the police due to pressure from the media. Read (here)...

However, about two weeks ago, the couple had a baby girl and the wife’s wealthy parents have written a letter to the Lagos State Government alleging that the couple is unfit to take care of the child.

The couple are under harassment from her parents again. Last week they received some social welfare workers from the Ministry of Youth and Social Dev. Alausa at their residence. The social workers were sent on instigation from the wife’s parents (Excel Children Medical Centre, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi) to take custody of their newly born baby (who was born on 14/11/2016) from them on the allegation that the baby is severely ill, the couple are not capable of taking care of their child and a false claim that they are both on hard drugs. Her parents are still very unhappy with their daughter for not marrying their choice of a husband Dr. Stanley Amaefule and have vowed to use all means possible to get her back home at all cost and also get custody of the baby.

Here is her dad’s comment after he received the news of the birth of his grandchild:
"Nono. Thank God for life. U R free to come home, out of d pit, even now. U R staying with a thief(ves) and a brigand(s), and u will seek your family soon. The jealous forces have done their worst(and u r still alive, thank God), and that has not changed the fact, nor our position. "The truth is out on the streets....." u couldn't hide it for long, no one can, but repentance and deliverance are awaited, for as long as God allows the scales to remain in your eyes". There's time for shame, and time for glorification. Shame's time is over, in Jesus name. Amen."

Here's her sister's comment after receiving the news of the delivery:
Amando Obieze's (nee Orji) comment:
"Beautiful girl..Chimamanda
My prayer for you this day is that no evil forces would make you grow up into
1. A girl that brings a man home and convinces her family that she loves and wants to marry him and singly and happily arranges an introduction in her village in the presence of her family and his, and later turns around to accuse her family of forcing her to marry who she did not want to marry.
2. A woman who runs away from home after her introduction and goes to live with an ex bf.
3. A woman who without nullifying the marriage process with the 1st guy goes to a court to marry the ex bf (whom her parents know nothing about),swears to a false affidavit, and writes her
father's name as one giving his consent to the marriage.
4. May she never meet a man who can take her to his house as wife without ever meeting her parents to ask for her hand in marriage.
5. May she never meet a man whose family can accept such a behaviour and never meet her parents either to ask for her hand in marriage.
6. May she never write a facebook post loaded with lies and false
accusations against her family who have loved her and protected her from day 1.
8. May she never have friends that would support this clearly outrageous behaviour.
9. May she never have aunties, uncles or cousins that would fuel her undue hatred for her parents.
10. May she never be selfish and cruel to even her own child to bring her into this complicated life."
There is no fight against ur family that u can win. U will forever be a loser. May having this child open ur eyes to the injustice u have done ur family.
